Acustic aircraft detection
Given the likelihood that radar will not appear in the Destroyermen's world without another transfer the older acoustic aircraft location becomes likely.
A T3 aircraft sound locator used for air defense by the U.S. Army Signal Corps. Before radar was invented in World War II, passive acoustic aircraft location devices were used by a number of nations to detect incoming enemy aircraft by listening for the sound of their engines. This example consists of two pairs of horn sound collectors on a steerable mount, attached to stethoscope-type earphones worn by observers. The horizontal (right–left) pair was used to determine the azimuth of the aircraft, and the vertical (top–bottom) pair was used to determine its elevation. "AWC" may indicate the photo was taken at the US Army War College, then at Fort McNair, Washington D.C.
By placing three in a line a known distance apart the distance to target and altitude could be calculated using trigonometry, not fast enough for heavier than air craft but probably good for gun fuse setting for zepphlins.

The problem is, again, the manufacturing level... Generally the Alliance level is not much better than grik's - too much depend on precise handwork.

Stethoscope type ear phones and tubing were used in the earliest Nancys. Bell type horns can be machined by spinning over a mandrel or made from pieces as in the above T3. Nothing is beyond the machining capacity of the alliance. It is possible that a Philipine army veterain may have experience with the detectors. Given losses to Grik Zepps it is likely they would be given a high priority.

Acoustic aircraft detection has been used recently in the Soviet Union almost up to the time of its failure because they didn't trust their radars in the field but the acoustic detectors work very well. They used parabolic reflectors to concentrate the audio. The reflectors or six to ten feet in diameter giving a 30 to 40 DB amplification. These would be extremely easy to build in the Destroyer man world buy any side. The use of microphones and amplifiers would make them even better
